Labor Day Vacation

We took our 3rd annual Labor Day Vacation a few weeks ago! This trip is spent with John David's parents in Water Sound, Fl. This is a trip we look forward to every year. We love getting away as a family for 1 week, being on the beach, swimming, eating Gulf Coast seafood, and relaxing!

This year our trip was quite different. After only being at the beach for 1 full day, we were told to evacuate due to Hurricane Isaac. The 1 day we did have before leaving was awesome! We spent most the day on the beach and the kids enjoyed the sand and the water.

After our fun day in the sun, we packed up the next morning and drove to Dothan. And after only being in Dothan for 15 minutes, we read the evacuation had been lifted! Ughhh! What a nightmare. So the next day was Tuesday and we packed everything back up and headed back to the beach. The next 3 days were filled with rain, wind, high surf, and closed beaches! We did quite a bit of shopping and tried to occupy our 2 busy ones!

On Friday, the beaches opened and the sun came back! We took full advantage of our last day and stayed out almost all day! The kids enjoyed another great day on the beach building sand castles and looking for sea shells! The water was still too rough for us to enjoy it!

Despite the weather, Evie waking up at 5:30 in the morning EVERY morning, and some rain, we still had a GREAT time. John David and I are so thankful to Sonny and Gigi for this vacation. And it is always great to see Jeremiah and Evie enjoy time with their grandparents.

Labor Day weekend was spent in Dothan with my parents. It was so fun to be able to stay with my parents and let them spoil the kids more than what had already been done the week before. We had a Labor Day cookout where we spent time with my brother and aunt and uncle.

On Labor Day, we headed back to Greenville. But before making it home, we met Preston, Caroline and Claire at the Georgia Aquarium! It had been a long 9 months since we had seen them. Jeremiah and Evie enjoyed their cousin and we treasured the time with Preston and Caroline!

The next day our busy schedules began: work, school, our church small group, bible study for me and the list goes on and on!
Jeremiah started 4K and Evie Beth started 2K. They have done great so far and are each loving their teachers and classrooms. The pictures below were taken on the 1st day of school!





Vacation is over, life is busy and we are trying to get ready for baby boy! He doesn't have a name yet and the room isn't close to being ready! Whew! We have a lot to do! I HOPE pictures of a finished room will be posted in the next few weeks! Even though I'm 27 weeks now, here is a 24 week pic for you guys!
