So as of May 8th, my husband told me I had to start calling him Dr. Adams instead of John David. Of course he was kidding, but he is officially a Dr. This is a little scary considering he will be cutting on people, putting in plates, screws and I don't know what else into people's bodies and all of that is starting in a month. A lot of people have questions about residency and here is what I know, but of course i will have a better idea once he starts. He begins June 22nd and it is a 5 year residency. All residency programs are hard, but surgery seems to be one of the worst as far as hours worked, on call schedules, etc. And of course, that is the one my husband will be doing for the rest of his life. I have been given 1 piece of advice: "Do not have any expectations: Expect him to never be home, to never be able to go or do anything, and just take your children and do everything by yourself!" So based on that, I am not very excited. I am praying that the Lord provides time for us and will greatly use the time we do have to strengthen our marriage.
We are now living in Dothan as we wait to move to Greenville. John David and I went up last week and did a massive house hunting search that consisted of looking at 30 houses in 2 1/2 days. We now have a contract on our favorite house. It is in a neighborhood called Neely Farm. This is a neighborhood that is about 10 years old and has a neighborhood pool and playground. They also have lots of events for adults and children like a Halloween costume party for kids and a chili kick off. I am so excited as this will be a great way for me to meet other moms and find children for Jeremiah to play with. The house is a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath with a deck and fenced in yard. I cannot wait to move in. And the great thing is that the family living there now completely updated the house so there is nothing we need to change besides paint. We move in June 15th.
Lastly, Jeremiah is turning 1 tomorrow. I cannot believe it. However, in my eyes, he is still a baby. We are going to celebrate this weekend in Dothan with friends and family.
I hope to post pictures of graduation and Jeremiah's birthday this week.
