How Great is Our Lord!

April 7, 2009

Our house is sold!!!!! Today was the 1st day I could check email because the internet has been down at the hospital. So, we got numerous emails from our agent (Fallon) about our house. The last one stated: “I knew this would happen when you left the country, but we have a multiple offer situation on our hands!”

Can you believe it? We were in the states with our house on the market for a month and a half. We leave the country and 4 days later our house sales! We are so excited and overwhelmed with God’s faithfulness. We don’t have a lot of info yet, but I believe we close May 15th and have a few days after that to get our things out. So with us getting back May 2nd, we will have plenty of time.

Sorry to those of you (family and friends) we haven’t been able to call. Like I said the internet has been down. But we are expecting to be able to get on soon.

We are doing great. We believe Jeremiah is getting ready to cut a tooth because he isn’t eating that well, has a runny nose, is extremely fussy, and has a bit of a fever. So that has been trying today, but other than that we are doing well. Thank you so much for your prayers as I am in tears again today with God’s faithfulness. (I am a little emotional if you can’t tell.) Jeremiah is on schedule, taking 2 naps a day and sleeping 11 hours at night again. :) One of the coolest things is that all of the Africans are amazed by Jeremiah. Wherever we go, we are the center of attention. They all stare and smile at him and of course he smiles right back and waves to them. I believe they are amazed by his white skin, blue eyes and light hair. Adults and children just love him.

Oh and Jeremiah’s bee sting is doing well. It was a little swollen still Monday night but didn’t seem to be bothering him.

From JD: Last night, I dreamed that we sold our house. Then, as I was starting a case by myself, I knew that Danielle was checking email. I thought to myself, it would be so awesome if she came by the OR to tell me that the house sold. Well she did not come by so I was a little disappointed.
We got done a little early today in the OR, so I was excited to come home and see Danielle and Jeremiah. As I was approaching our place, Danielle came running out the door and said “we sold our house.” At First, I did not believe her, but then as I realized she was serious I definitely was overwhelmed with Joy. One of my first thoughts was how God had always designed for us to be here in Kenya when we found out about our house selling, something we had been praying months for. It just confirmed in my heart, that the Lord has called us to be here. It’s like He is saying, I wanted to wait to reward you until you got to Africa, thank you for your faithfulness and obedience. In all honesty, it seems weird to say reward, but it is true that the Lord rewards those who are faithful to His calling and Word. But truly, the greatest reward is being here and seeing God’s hand at work. Actually, that is probably the true reward from Him, the house is just a means to see Him more clearly. Because in fact, He is always the greatest reward.

Aunt Faye says: so glad you heard form them and they are all right, good about the house too-- I think. I feel so sorry for Danielle, tell them we love them and are for sure praying for them and John David so proud of him!!!!

April Says: Oh that is great. I am tearing up about the house because I know they are excited about that. That is wonderful. Keep me updated. Love ya’ll.

Sheri says:

Thanks for the update. I was going to go to their blog last night, but got side tracked.
Children are very resilient, aren't they.

Keep me posted.

WE love you all and miss you, but the blog and video calls help bunches. Did Jeremiah take his malaria meds better this last time? Hope so--stay safe.

I've been keeping up with everyone in Africa. It sounds like they are
adjusting and doing pretty well. I get a little emotional when I read
their blog. Their faith in God and his grace shows in every sentence. I
continue to pray for them and the work they are doing there. It's
exciting to read what their life is like there, can't wait for the next
chapter!! Have a good one. Sheri

Melissa Jackson says:Thank you so much for sending us the blog. It is so awesome that they are in Africa and as you can imagine, their blog brought back so many memories of our trip. Jeremiah is so precious and has grown so much since I last saw him. We are familiar with Tenwek hospital because we receive the newsletter from Samaritan's Purse and they send a lot of doctors to Tenwek. (actually it is World Medical Missions - this is the group we took our trip through). As a matter of fact we just received an e-mail from Franklin Graham today about their work. I know you could just eat Jeremiah up. Give them our love and tell them we are so proud of them and will keep them in our prayers. They sound excited about their upcoming move. That is so exciting!!! Talk to you later. Melissa
