Update

April 26, 2009

We woke up this Sunday morning and were a little rushed because we were scheduled to have breakfast before Church at one of the missionary’s houses. It was a wonderful time. The missionary has been at Tenwek since about 1982, which really amazed me since that was the year I was born. Can you imagine living in Africa for 26 years? I was so blessed by her faithfulness to the Lord’s calling.

After church, we had one of the other missionary families over for Lunch. They are from Michigan and have 4 boys. They are both physicians, one Internal Medicine and one Family Practice. They are both part of a practice in Michigan that is made up of 50 Christian physicians that are committed to missions. It was great to talk with him to see how a practice like that functions.

Later in the afternoon, we did spiritual rounds at the Orthopaedic Ward. This is a time for us to put away our scrubs and white coats, and minister to the spiritual needs of our patients. We usually start off the conversation asking about their medical problem and how we could pray for them. Before we pray, we ask them if they have a relationship with Christ and are secure in His grace. Today I had the privilege to usher two of our patients into a relationship with Christ. They seemed so eager to accept Him. As we prayed for the patients, it was very cool to think about how one day we will meet again before the throne to worship our Savior together. I loved telling them that if I didn’t see them again in this life, I would see them again in heaven.

Dr. Jackson says:
I finally had a chance to read the blogs from Danielle and John David.  This is awesome to read, and their spiritual commitment is awe inspiring!  Many of their comments bring tears to my eyes, reviving my memories and simply from reading of their observations and their faith walk they exhibit to us all.
I wish them well and pray God will continue to use them as they continue to offer themselves as living sacrifices for His work.
