So, on April 5th, 2010 my labor pains began. My first contraction was at 12:20 pm. I was at home with Jeremiah, Gigi, and my neighbor Farrah and her little girl. We were eating Chick-fil-A. They consistently came every 20 minutes until about 3:00.
Below are 2 pictures taken just 2 days prior. We were at an Easter Egg Hunt. I was hoping the chasing around of Jeremiah would induce labor. Not so much... it was just 3 days later.

So back to 3:00 pm on 4. 5. 10. I laid down for a bit to see if the contractions would go away but they didn't. Jeremiah woke up from his nap around 3:30 and I immediately took him outside to play with our neighbors. The contractions were still coming, but they weren't painful yet. Side note: I had not taken a shower at this point and I had not finished packing. Can you say denial? I honestly thought there was no way I was in labor and so I decided to not shower and pack. By 4:30, my contractions were about every 12 minutes and were becoming painful. John David would be coming home soon and so I thought I would wait for him to make a decision of whether we should go to the hospital or not! By this point, Gigi was freaking out and begging me to go to the hospital. But I just kept sitting outside watching my little man play with all of his little friends. And John David wasn't in a big hurry either (which drove his mom crazy) b/c he went and got a hair cut before he came home. He got home around 5:30 and told me to get up b/c I was definitely in labor and we needed to get ready to go to the hospital. My contractions were about 8-10 minutes apart now. So I decided to get a shower which made my contractions really close together (every 4 minutes and painful). John David is usually cool and collected but he wasn't at this point. His exact words were "Okay, lay on the bed and see if you can get the contractions to slow down!" Well, they didn't and so he said, "Get up! We have to get going! I'm not very happy with you-you should have already gotten a shower and packed!"
We left for the hospital around 6 and arrived 30 minutes later. Luckily, my contractions slowed down a bit while we were driving to the hospital! They hooked me up around 7 pm and checked me-I was 4 cm.
I got moved to a delivery room, got my epidural around 10 pm (about 6 cm) and started pushing at midnight. Evie Elizabeth was born at 12:08 am on April 6, 2010. She weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces and was 20 inches long. It was definitely an easy delivery and we were blessed to have a healthy baby girl.

Happy Birthday Evie Beth! You are a gift from the Lord and we are truly thankful for you!

I can't believe a year has passed. Looking back at these pics I can really see how much she looked like you when she was born. She still favors you more than J but has definitely changed into a look that's "all Evie". She's absolutely precious. Love that little girl.
